Phylogenetic tree of pogo transposases. a Unrooted phylogenetic tree of pogo transposases relative to Zator, IS630, DD34E/Gambol, and previously described Tc1/mariner families. The unrooted phylogenetic tree was inferred using the maximum likelihood method with the IQ-TREE program (see Additional file 2: Fig. S2 for an uncollapsed tree). Transposase sequences of DD36E/IC, DD35E/TR, DD37E/TRT are from the references [22, 23, 42]. GenBank access numbers of other reference elements are included in Additional file 2: Fig. S2. The number of species/organisms containing pogo elements for each pogo family is given in brackets for each lineage or group of eukaryotes
